123 Agreement

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Its, in a way appropriate, that on the occassion of Gandhi Jayanti(read International Day of Non-Violence) US decides that the nuclear power would do more good to the people of India, lighting up their houses, instead of fearing it’s use for building WMD’s.

The Oscar moment

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

for me it was when Marketa Irglova returned to the stage to make her speech and had this to say to about a billion people watching… and hope, at the end of the day, connects us all, no matter how different we are.

Truly a nice line!

Celebrating images

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Well, just finished adding a new module to this site. It’s called, ‘In Focus‘. In focus is an medium that aims at bringing the day’s most fascinating, intense, beautiful, crazy, lively images to my visitors courtesy Flickr. So after a lot of googling, some help from Flickr, talented and generous photographers, and a bit of help from my grey cells, I managed to create In Focus. Please visit it and if you the kind who appreciates photography, I am sure you will have a great time.

Any kind of feedback is always appreciated at iRohit.com.

What if there are no coincidences?

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

I first came across this line in the N Shyamalan’s movie ‘Signs’. And since then it’s kinda stuck at the back of my mind. There have been numerous occasions when certain events that have occurred, have strengthened my belief in this particular line. The events can be so trivial like remembering a friend and getting a call from him to as vague as thinking of an exotic country to visit and actually watching tourism feature on the same country on BBC that very night. There are more such uncanny events but I can’t recollect them now.
Now getting back to the quote, I must confess, the true depth of the quote hasn’t still sunk in. I really can’t explain to myself what the statement conveys or how it can be interpreted, accepted and not clash with my other belief like nothing in life can be planned for and the scientific concept of entropy. Still with me???
What is coincidence? It is an event that might have been arranged although it was really accidental. But if there are no coincidences than that would mean that every event is a predetermined outcome. And hence every thing in this universe has a path predefined.
If one agrees with this than the proposition in the quote is valid. Nothing happens randomly. Things occur because they have to and everything that happens is linked to what will happen and what has already occurred.
But the concept of entropy says that every entity tends towards more randomness. So in my case I have inclinations to believe in both these contradictory notions.
What do think? Does this give you some food for thought, or do you think I am a whacko?
On that note, I shall bid you goodbye. Till next time, keep the faith!

Headlines today

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Three news items that I would say more or less summarize India of today.

  • Indian economy is a trillion dollars
  • Richard Gere was issued a warrant for his ‘kiss’ on Shilpa Shetty
  • Playstation 3 launched in India

What this tells me that India economy is stronger than ever. But though we are marching towards glory, there are still pockets of people in this country who want to hold on to the past, that too, to the conservative values, not the values of brotherhood, selflessness, equality. They want to impose their moral standards on others. PIL were for the general betterment of the masses, to bring forth issues that would benefit Indians on the whole. But, sadly today they have become tools to coerce personal interests. The last headline vindicates India’s appetite for technology and entertainment. Launching of PS3 within 5 months of its debut shows the changing mindset of the major brands that always viewed India as a dumping ground of yesterday’s products.

Celebrity couples

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

So Aishwarya is now a Bachchan. It was such a quick romance. One morning, not so long ago you see Aishwarya in a temple with the Bachchan in the wee hours of the morning and yesterday they were married. In between the couple must have visited all the major shrines in India. I am sure we have seen the last of Aishwarya on the big screen. And finally India has a powerful celebrity couple.

So who are the most facinating celebrity couples in my books. I think the top three for me have to be Agassi & Steffi, Brad & Angelina and now Abhishek & Ash.

Fiddling around with WordPress

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Ha.. WordPress blogging tool. Seems pretty comprehensive. Seems to cater to most of the needs of a blogger. But can it handle images. We shall find out.
Nope, it needs the image to be hosted. I wish I could just upload images directly into one of tables in the WordPress data base. Less hassles that way.

ciao!
